8th and 9th of March, 2017- Disaster Mitigation Awareness Camp at 2 No. Aaipowali, Chirang (BTAD), Assam.

On 8th and 9th of March, 2017, Priyobondhu Social Welfare Society, in collaboration with the Forest Department and under the esteemed patronage of the Bodo Territorial Council, hosted a comprehensive Disaster Mitigation Awareness Camp at 2 No. Aaipowali, Chirang (BTAD), Assam. The camp saw an enthusiastic participation of 348 individuals, all united in the shared goal of enhancing their preparedness for both natural and manmade disasters.

The primary objective of the program was to empower and educate the rural community on effective disaster management strategies, focusing on mitigation measures that can significantly reduce the devastating impact of calamities. Through engaging sessions, participants were trained on safeguarding life, livelihood, and property in the face of potential risks.

In addition to raising awareness about disaster preparedness, the camp emphasized practical skills, resilience building, and community driven solutions to minimize the loss of life and resources. By fostering a sense of collective responsibility, the camp sought to instill a proactive approach to disaster risk reduction, ensuring that individuals and communities are better equipped to handle unexpected crises.

This initiative underscores the importance of early intervention, community awareness, and coordinated response efforts in mitigating the impacts of disasters, ultimately striving to build a more resilient and self reliant society capable of weathering any storm whether natural or man-made.
