On July 7, 2017, Priyobondhu intervened to rescue Ms. Tripti Roy, a 56-year-old woman from Nizarapar, Kahilipara, Guwahati, who was suffering from paralysis of the lower body along with severe open wounds. She belonged to an extremely distressed and poverty-stricken family of five, including three differently abled children. The family’s sole breadwinner was her husband. However, he was also experiencing serious back pain, rendering the family without a stable source of income.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Priyobondhu facilitated her immediate admission to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and bore the necessary medical expenses and support services. To ensure the safety, care, and well-being of her children during her treatment, Priyobondhu also took the initiative to refer and admit her three differently abled children to Destination, a specialized home for children with special needs.
Ms. Tripti Roy underwent three major surgeries during her course of treatment and remained under medical care for several months. She was eventually discharged from GMCH on November 20, 2017. This comprehensive intervention helped stabilize the family during a critical period and ensured medical care, child protection, and dignity for all members involved.
