On June 25, 2017, an awareness program on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) was successfully conducted at Negheriting Tea Estate, Dergaon, Golaghat. The program aimed to educate women and adolescent girls about menstrual health, hygiene practices, and access to healthcare services.

Ms. Archana Borthakur, Founder of Priyobondhu, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of menstrual hygiene, dignity, and breaking social taboos surrounding menstruation. An informative awareness session was conducted by Dr. Ghiasuddin Ahmed, Medical Officer, Kamalabari BHPC, Majuli, who discussed health-related aspects of menstrual care. Additionally, Ms. Rumi Devi, District Coordinator, National Health Mission (NHM), Sonitpur, highlighted various government health schemes available for women and girls.

The program was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Shri Bhabendranath Bharali, MLA of Dergaon; Shri Nurul Sultan, President of Dergaon Sahitya Sabha; eminent social worker Shri Abhijit Borah; and journalist Shri Kaju Robi Das, Reporter, Dainik Janambhumi, among others. Their participation added encouragement and support to the initiative.

As part of the program, 400 sanitary napkins and women’s innerwear were distributed to the participants, ensuring practical support alongside awareness. The initiative contributed significantly to improving knowledge, promoting healthy practices, and empowering women in the community.
