'Stepping Out of the Kitchen'- Cake Baking Competition for Women
On February 25, 2018, Priyobondhu, with the support of Panasonic Cooking, organized an authentic cake baking competition at Chandmari, Guwahati, under the empowering theme 'Stepping Out of the Kitchen', celebrating women who live with pride, dignity, and entrepreneurial spirit.
The initiative was designed to promote gainful self-employment opportunities for women by encouraging them to transform their culinary skills into sustainable livelihood options. Emphasis was placed on healthy and natural baking practices, with strict guidelines prohibiting the use of artificial edible colours, ready-made gum paste, sugar paste, whipped cream, and synthetic decorative items. Instead, participants were encouraged to use natural colours derived from fresh fruits and vegetables, reinforcing the importance of nutrition and authenticity.
A total of 26 women contestants participated in the competition. The entries were evaluated based on taste, nutritional value, and creativity in decoration, ensuring a balance between health and presentation.

The competition was judged by Ms. Jumi Ahmed and Mr. Shankar Ghosh, whose expertise ensured fair and transparent evaluation. The event was further graced by the presence of several notable personalities, including Shri Rajib Bora, RJ Sujita, RJ Shubhankar (Big 92.7 FM), Nripen Mahanta, Sachin Vishwakarma, Saman Singh, Siva Sarma, and others.
The event successfully highlighted the entrepreneurial potential of women, promoted healthy cooking practices, and reinforced Priyobondhu’s commitment to women empowerment, skill development, and dignified livelihoods.
