On January 10, 2018, Priyobondhu marked a significant milestone by inaugurating the newly reconstructed Pukarkata LP School (non-provincialised) located at Lahorighat in Morigaon District. The initiative reflected the belief that education, along with health and livelihood, is fundamental to the holistic development of rural communities in India.

Established in 1982, Pukarkata LP School had been serving the local community for over 35 years. However, due to prolonged financial constraints, the school’s infrastructure had deteriorated severely. The building lacked proper walls, with only bamboo poles, a rusted roof, four pairs of desks and benches, and a single blackboard remaining. The absence of adequate shelter exposed students to wind, rain, and extreme heat, leading to irregular school sessions and disrupting the learning environment.
Recognizing the urgent need for intervention, Priyobondhu, with generous support from UK-based Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), undertook the responsibility of reconstructing the school and equipping it with essential learning facilities. Construction work commenced on December 16, 2017, with a plan to build two classrooms featuring a concrete floor, half-height side walls, a corrugated rooftop, and the provision of new desks, benches, and blackboards.
The reconstruction work was successfully completed on January 9, 2018, and the school was formally inaugurated on January 10, 2018 by Shri Hemen Das, Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon; Shri Swapnaneel Deka, Superintendent of Police, Morigaon; Smt. Dyotiva Bora, Circle Officer, Morigaon; and Shri Akbar Ali, Officer-in-Charge, Bhuragaon, Morigaon.
The inauguration marked a new dawn for Pukarkata LP School, restoring dignity and hope to the educational aspirations of the community. With the improved infrastructure and facilities, the school resumed regular academic sessions and began the new term with a fresh batch of 40 students, ensuring a safer and more conducive learning environment.
