From January 19 to 21, 2018, as part of the Rongali Festival held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati, Assam, a Traditional Assamese Kitchen was constructed to celebrate and showcase the rich culinary heritage of Assam.
In addition to the Assamese Traditional Food Competition and various food stalls, the traditional kitchen served as a live demonstration space where visitors could experience the preparation methods, utensils, ingredients, and cooking styles associated with diverse traditional Assamese cuisines. The initiative aimed to preserve indigenous food practices while creating awareness among younger generations and visitors.
The concept and design of the traditional kitchen were ideated and developed by blogger partner “Foodie on the Road”, whose creative vision helped bring authenticity and cultural depth to the display. The traditional kitchen became a major attraction of the festival, offering an immersive cultural experience and highlighting Assam’s diverse food traditions.
