Garden Cultivation and Management Program under IPWWC
(Integrated Program for the Welfare of Women and Children)
As part of Priyobondhu’s flagship initiative, the Garden Cultivation and Management Program under IPWWC is a thoughtfully designed effort to integrate environmental education with practical life skills for both children and women. The program seeks to cultivate not only vegetables, fruits, and flowers but also a deeper sense of responsibility, self-reliance, and ecological awareness within communities.
By engaging children and women in hands-on gardening activities, the program empowers them to produce their own food, thereby improving nutritional intake, health, and food security. At its core, it encourages a return to the roots, literally and metaphorically, promoting a lifestyle in harmony with nature.
We believe that school-age children serve as ideal catalysts for change. Their natural curiosity, eagerness to learn, and ability to influence their households make them powerful agents of transformation. By instilling environmental values and cultivation practices at an early age, we are not only shaping responsible individuals today but nurturing the caretakers of tomorrow's world. These children will grow up to carry forward the knowledge, passing it on to their families and wider communities.
Gardening also serves as an experiential learning platform fostering patience, teamwork, observation, and care for living things. As children witness the growth of a plant from seed to harvest, they develop a profound connection with nature and learn the importance of sustainability.
In the face of escalating environmental challenges, it is critical to equip the younger generation with the mindset and skills to protect and nurture our planet. The school garden initiative is more than just a cultivation project; it is a powerful tool for behavioral change and sustainable decision-making.
Currently, the program is actively being implemented in four of our community centers located at Narengi, Dharbam, Paschim Killing, and 2 No. Robingaon. With continued support and dedication, we aim to expand this model and sow the seeds of sustainability in every child we reach.
