October 29, 2016- POSITIVE LIGHTS- A Radiant Diwali for the Children Living with HIV+

In a profoundly moving initiative titled “POSITIVE LIGHTS,” Priyobondhu embraced the true spirit of Diwali by kindling hope in the lives of 17 courageous children residing at the Kasturi Children Care Home, all of whom are living with HIV+. The evening was transformed into a luminous celebration as 1001 earthen lamps were lit each diya a silent but powerful symbol of resilience, dignity, and unwavering love.

Moved by the challenges faced by the care home, especially an acute shortage of food, Priyobondhu galvanized support through crowd funding and community donations. This collective outpouring of empathy enabled the organization to provide a wide array of essential food items, including rice, dal, mustard oil, atta, sugar, milk, biscuits, Maggi noodles, potatoes, onions, tea, and more ensuring the children had both nourishment and comfort during the festive season.

Understanding that education is as vital as sustenance, educational materials- notebooks, pencils, colour pencils, among others were also distributed, reinforcing the importance of learning and creativity even in adversity.

The evening culminated in a heartwarming community meal, uniting the children and volunteers in a moment of shared joy and celebration. Amidst the soft flicker of lamps and the aroma of festive delicacies, what truly illuminated the night was the radiant spirit of these children and the message that no one, regardless of their circumstances, should be forgotten during the festivals of light.

POSITIVE LIGHTS was not just a celebration. It was a tribute to human strength, a call for inclusion, and a reminder that the brightest lights are often kindled in the darkest corners.
