Priyobondhu Initiates ' Priyobondhu Restoration Project ' to Support Post-Flood Recovery in Upper Assam

While continuing its ongoing flood relief operations across Upper Assam, Priyobondhu www.priyobondhu.org, under the leadership of Founder Archi Barthakur Archana Borthakur, has officially initiated the' Priyobondhu Restoration Project ', a comprehensive initiative aimed at supporting the long-term recovery and rehabilitation of flood-affected families.
As part of the project, a detailed field survey is currently underway to assess the extent of damage, identify the most vulnerable households, and determine their immediate and long-term rehabilitation needs. The findings of the survey will help ensure that assistance is delivered in a transparent, need-based, and effective manner.
The Priyobondhu Restoration Project focuses on restoring lives and livelihoods through interventions such as housing support, livelihood restoration, essential household assistance, and community rehabilitation. The initiative reflects the organization's commitment to helping flood-affected communities rebuild with dignity and resilience.
Speaking about the initiative, Archana Borthakur, Founder of Priyobondhu, said-
' Our mission does not end with emergency relief. Recovery is a long journey, and we are committed to standing beside every affected family throughout this process. Through the Priyobondhu Restoration Project, we will make every possible effort to reach the maximum number of vulnerable families and extend our full support to help them rebuild their lives.
These six families, living on the opposite bank of the Namti River, had remained largely inaccessible due to their isolated location and the need to cross a damaged bridge to reach them. As a result, they had not received any relief assistance.
Their only source of drinking water, a tube well that remained submerged under floodwaters for several days, rendering it unsafe for use.
To support these vulnerable families, Priyobondhu provided safe drinking water along with essential food supplies, phenyl, bleaching powder, brooms, soap, and other basic necessities to help them meet their immediate needs and maintain hygiene in the aftermath of the floods. '
