September 7, 2016- Post-Flood Relief Initiative - Chirang District Camps

In the aftermath of devastating floods, Priyobondhu extended comprehensive relief support to three severely affected relief camps in Chirang district, Assam. The initiative reached a total of 214 families comprising 1,087 individuals from multiple remote villages.

The relief was provided to the following camps:

Hatisar, Dadgiri Camp, which sheltered 167 families and 835 individuals from 8 villages-Ambari, 1 No. and 2 No. Dharampur, Lakhiguri, Hatisar Adibasi, Hatisar Simalguri, Hatisar Forest Village, and 1 No. Aiepowali. Aiepowali Camp, with 47 families and 252 members. Nakedara Camp, covering 1 No. Kusungdwisa, 4 No. Samudwisa, and 3 No. Samudwisa villages.

The relief materials included food items such as 35 quintals of rice, 250 kg of lentils, 45 liters of mustard oil, 70 kg of salt, sugar, chidwa (flattened rice), soya chunks, puffed rice, jaggery, biscuits, oats, milk, tea, and mineral water. Insect repellents and disinfectants such as bleaching powder, Dettol, and phenyl were provided to prevent the spread of disease. Clothes were distributed to individuals of all age groups. Sanitary napkins and innerwear were provided for women, while baby food was supplied for infants and toddlers.

For bedding and shelter support, bedsheets, mosquito nets, and mosquito coils were distributed. Personal hygiene items such as soaps and toothpastes were included. Educational materials like notebooks, pencils, color pencils, erasers, and sharpeners were distributed to children. In terms of health support, essential medicines such as ORS, paracetamol, antacids, Norflox-TZ, vitamin B-complex, and others for general health issues were also provided.

This extensive relief effort reaffirms Priyobondhu’s mission to stand by communities in times of distress, ensuring their immediate needs are met with empathy, care, and dignity.
