Empowering Children through Financial Inclusion- A Step Toward Social Security

In a remarkable and heartening initiative aimed at ensuring social security for underprivileged and street children living in the slums and remote villages of Assam, Priyobondhu has undertaken the responsibility of opening bank accounts for over 187 children.

Archana Borthakur, founder of Priyobondhu, shared her vision-

“Beyond education, health, and overall well-being, there exists an equally important pillar of a child's development social security. Through this initiative, we aim to instill in children the value of saving and the consequences of squandering. The ability to manage small finances empowers them not only to contribute to their school fees or daily needs but also to support their families during times of crisis.”

As part of this larger vision, 45 bank accounts were successfully opened today for the children from Khetri Centre. Priyobondhu also plans to assist those without proper documentation in acquiring Aadhaar and Birth Certificates, thus further integrating them into essential civic systems.

This initiative is a significant stride toward financial empowerment, self-reliance, and dignified living for the most vulnerable children of our society.
